Living with Corona
Sun Resorts – The first hotels in Mauritius reopen on July 1st
With the first corona cases in Mauritius, the government opted for a radical lock-down. All hotels and other facilities were closed from one day to the other. The residents were only allowed to leave their homes to go to the supermarket. But, judging by the numbers, the strict measures paid off. There were a total of 332 cases, including ten deaths. More than 90% have already recovered. (May 15th 2020)
For the four Sun Resorts in Mauritius, the low number of cases is accompanied by plans to reopen. A task force is currently deciding on extensive hygienic and social distancing measures to ensure a carefree and relaxing holiday for guests in the four beach hotels. The leisure island of Ile aux Cerfs with Bernhard Langer golf course shall also be reopened as soon as possible.
The hotel crew of La Pirogue is looking forward to welcoming guests again from July 1st. The Adult-Only Hotel Ambre is also ready to reopen at that time. The modern Long Beach will start operating again on September 1st with numerous leisure activities and excellent restaurants. At Sugar Beach, the hotel closing is used for extensive renovations of the main building. Guests will be welcomed here again from November 1st.
The Kanuhura – A Sun Resort Maldives is scheduled to reopen on October 1st.
