Sun Resorts – The first hotels in Mauritius reopen on July 1st

With the first coro­na cases in Mau­ri­ti­us, the government opted for a radi­cal lock-down. All hotels and other faci­li­ties were clo­sed from one day to the other. The resi­dents were only allo­wed to lea­ve their homes to go to the super­mar­ket. But, jud­ging by the num­bers, the strict mea­su­res paid off. The­re were a total of 332 cases, inclu­ding ten deaths. More than 90% have alrea­dy reco­ve­r­ed. (May 15th 2020)

For the four Sun Resorts in Mau­ri­ti­us, the low num­ber of cases is accom­pa­nied by plans to reopen. A task for­ce is cur­r­ent­ly deci­ding on exten­si­ve hygie­nic and social distancing mea­su­res to ensu­re a care­free and rela­xing holi­day for guests in the four beach hotels. The leisu­re island of Ile aux Cerfs with Bern­hard Lan­ger golf cour­se shall also be reope­ned as soon as pos­si­ble.

The hotel crew of La Piro­gue is loo­king for­ward to wel­co­m­ing guests again from July 1st. The Adult-Only Hotel Ambre is also rea­dy to reopen at that time. The modern Long Beach will start ope­ra­ting again on Sep­tem­ber 1st with nume­rous leisu­re acti­vi­ties and excel­lent restau­rants. At Sugar Beach, the hotel clo­sing is used for exten­si­ve reno­va­tions of the main buil­ding. Guests will be wel­co­med here again from Novem­ber 1st.

The Kan­uhu­ra – A Sun Resort Mal­di­ves is sche­du­led to reopen on Octo­ber 1st.
